Homer & Lucy Hopkins Blakesley had 7 children

1 - Mary Ellen born Jan. 4 1901 in Italy Hill Yates Co. NY.

     Married Leon Borden [Aug. 1888-Jan. 21 1952] April 8 1922 in Branchport  NY at the home of

     her Uncle David Hopkins [brother of her mother Lucy]

     They had one child, a son Leon Louis Jr.

     She died Jan. 20, 1984 in Carson City Nev. Buried in Gorham Cemetery NY

     She disliked the name Mary & always went by the name Ellen, A good Aunt.

2 - Georgia B. born July 1 1903 in Italy Hill NY Yates Co. NY.

     Married Charles Campbell [1892 - 1962] in 1928.

     They had two children: Mary Ethel [married. Ray Mallaber Dec. 21 1946]

                                               Charles LaVern

     She died Oct. 1983 in Potter NY Buried in Nettle Valley Cemetery, Potter.

     She chain smoked cigarettes most of her adult life, but still made it to 80 ! A good Aunt.

3 - Olive M. born July 16 1905 in Italy Hill NY.

     1st marriage : Louis Thayer on July 31 1928. Lou was WW 1 veteran, born 1888 -  died Feb. 23

      1929 from effects of poison gas.

     They had one child: Donald O. Thayer b. Sept. 24 1928 - d. Sept. 17 2006.

     2nd marriage: Philip Wyffels [Sept. 5 1897 - March 27 1966], date & place of marriage unknown.

     They had two children: Gerald b. March 30 1939.

                                              Charles b. May 11 1940 - d. July 21 2012 in Nevada.

      She died Nov. 30 1976 in Rochester NY & is buried alongside Phil in Calvary Cemetery,

       Canandaigua NY.

      Aunt Olly loved to dance & have a good time. She is this authors favorite Aunt.

4 - Charles Wesley born Jan. 11 1911 - died March 31 1983.

5 - Merrill Kimble born in Italy Hill NY Aug. 3 1916 [birth records] [1917 per military. records].

      Married Pearl Blixt [Sept. 12 1919 - Dec. 26 2006] in Auburn NY Nov 20 1941

      They had three children: Paul S. born June 1947, died at 2 days

                                                  Roger K. born April 11 1952

                                                  David E. born Feb. 15 1960

      He enlisted in the Army Air Force in early 1942 & served in WW2, Korea & Vietnam.

      He retired as a Major in 1970.

      He died Sept. 27 1994. Both he & Pearl are buried in Riverside National Cemetery CA

      In addition to being a certified FAA mechanic, Merrill was a carpenter & cabinetmaker. In retirement he & Pearl liked to go to gambling casinos. He once told the author he was going to keep on moving until he found a place where the natives got up in the morning & said “Damn, not another nice day”. Don’t think they ever found it.  Fun folks.

6 - John William born Jan. 23 1920 in Italy Hill NY

     Married Viola Tears [b. June 18 1924 - still alive in 2014] on Oct. 26 1941 in Penn Yan NY.

     They had four children: Patricia born April 20 1942

                                                James born Nov. 1 1946 - died May 31 1995

                                                Janet born Nov. 10 1948

                                                Jaye born June 3 1954

     John died Jan. 4 1998. He is buried in Gorham Cemetery NY.

     He worked as a truck driver most of his adult life, first with his own milk hauling business, then involved in a Detroit tool & die shop & then drove truck for Penn Yan Express for many years. He also played drums in a band called The Country Gentlemen for many years.

Upper left inscribed “me” in Merrill’s handwriting. Don;t think so. It’s generic postcard. Merrill’s joke.
